Job summary

Breedon Group is looking for a Fitter based at Divet Hill Quarry & Asphalt Plant in Northumberland. This full-time, permanent role involves supporting the maintenance plan and improving equipment reliability through preventative and corrective maintenance.

Ideal candidates should have a recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship and essential experience with heavy plant maintenance. Benefits include 25 days annual leave, a pension scheme, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
• Essential experience working on heavy plant, fixed and/or mobile.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned, preventive and reactive mechanical maintenance on production plant and equipment.
• Removing, repairing and reassembling conveyors, rollers, and side skirts.
• Maintain pumps, motors, pulleys, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Good understanding of health safety and environmental impacts of the role.
• Mechanical fitting and maintenance of equipment including conveyors, pumps, pipes, valves, etc.
• Welding and burning for fabrication and maintenance.

The objective of this role is to support the sites Maintenance plan & improving equipment reliability by carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance. Support the maintenance & operations teams and be a central part of the maintenance team by carrying out planned and corrective maintenance on the plant as directed by your team leader or managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned, preventive and reactive mechanical maintenance on production plant and equipment.
• Removing, repairing and reassembling conveyors, rollers, and side skirts.
• Maintain pumps, motors, pulleys, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Good understanding of health safety and environmental impacts of the role.
• Mechanical fitting and maintenance of equipment including conveyors, pumps, pipes, valves, filter systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes etc.
• Welding and burning for fabrication and maintenance.
• Use of pulling and lifting equipment.
• Experience in the use of workshop equipment.
• Mechanical fault finding.
• Competency in basic Multi Skilling.
• Contribute to the Company’s zero harm culture by ensuring all activities are carried out within the company requirements of safety, environment and quality and performing other duties as requested by your team leader or manager.
