Job summary

Short Brothers, a Boeing Company, is seeking an experienced fitter in Northern Ireland. The role involves checking kit parts to drawings, fabricating aerospace hardware to a high standard and maintaining a safe working environment.

Training is provided for the selected candidate. You will read engineering drawings, work across shifts with overtime as required, and join a team recognised for safety, quality and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship in listed trades.
  • Four years’ experience in a skilled role with City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or NVQ Level 3.
  • If six years’ experience in a skilled area, a Skills Enhanced register may be created.

Responsibilities

  • Check kit parts to drawing schedules and manufacture aerospace hardware to a high standard.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work across shifts, including overtime.

Earn £33,795 (£18.05 per hour) rising to £36,782.72 (£19.65 per hour), overtime and shift premiums may be available.

Aircraft-fitting experience is not essential as full training will be provided.

After initial product training, your role will involve checking kit parts to drawing schedules, manufacturing a range of aerospace hardware to a high standard and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

You’ll also need to be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and be happy to work a range of shifts plus overtime, as required, at any of Short Brothers, a Boeing Company’s Northern Ireland sites.

To be part of our success story, you’ll have:

  • Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship as an: Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Motor Mechanic, Sheet Metal worker, Coach Builder, Coppersmith, Aircraft Technician, Carpenter, Mechanical & Maintenance Fitter, Panel Beater, Sheet Metal, Pattern Maker, Toolfitter, Car Body Operator, Boiler Maker, Machinist, Pipe Fitter, Diesel Fitter, Plumber, Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Welder, Fabricator, or in a similar skilled trade

OR

  • Four years’ experience in a skilled role, plus a relevant qualification, ie City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline.
  • If you do not meet the above criteria but do have six years’ experience in one of our recognised skilled areas, we will be creating a register for our Skills Enhanced programme, please fill in an application form and we will be in touch.
