Job summary

The University of Chester's Sport and Active Lifestyle department is seeking a motivated Fitness Instructor to support users of the gym and sports facilities at Exton Park campus, working with staff, students and the public.

You will plan and deliver inclusive fitness classes, run one-to-one training sessions, manage front-desk reception and general admin, monitor safety, hygiene and equipment, and assist with term-time events such as BUCS Wednesdays and promotional activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and excellent customer service to members and visitors of the gym and sports facilities at Exton Park campus.
• Plan and instruct fitness classes, conduct one-to-one training sessions, and complete daily reception and administrative tasks.
• Monitor safety and ensure the gym and facilities are hygienic and well maintained for members.
• Assist with additional events during each term, including BUCS Wednesdays and sports promotional activities.

You will provide excellent levels of customer care to all users of the gym and sports facilities as well as assist with the service delivery of the department by completing daily and weekly tasks.

Job Purpose

You will represent the Sport and Active Lifestyle department of the University of Chester which comprises gymCHESTER, activeCHESTER, sportCHESTER and Active Wellbeing. You will provide excellent levels of customer care to all users of the gym and sports facilities as well as assist with the service delivery of the department by completing daily and weekly tasks.

You will be based in the gym at Exton Park Campus. The Gym is used by staff, students and guests of the University of Chester as well as members of the public. Other sports facilities at Exton Park include a swimming pool, gymnasium, small hall, all weather pitch, MUGA, tennis courts, squash courts, sports hall and running track.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

As a qualified Fitness Instructor, you will provide guidance and excellent customer service to all members and visitors of the gym and sports facilities located at Exton Park campus. You will assist the Sport and Active Lifestyle department by planning and instructing fitness classes, conducting one-to-one training sessions, complete daily reception and administrative tasks, monitor security and safety of the gym and sports facilities, ensure the gym is hygienic and properly maintained for our members. You will also assist with additional events throughout each term, for example BUCS Wednesdays and Sport and Active Lifestyle promotional activities.
