The Extracare Charitable Trust is recruiting for a Fitness Instructor on a permanent contract to join our supportive team, based at Stoke Gifford Retirement Village in Bristol.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Fitness Instructor to join our friendly team at our Stoke Gifford location and support the village’s commitment to delivering ExtraCare’s mission of “better lives for older people”. We provide a domiciliary care service all under one roof. No more travelling!

Extracare does not participate in the current “UK Visa Sponsorship” scheme, and we would not be able to facilitate sponsorship.

• Role: Fitness Instructor
• Hours: 18 hours per week - flexible schedule
• Salary: £13.45 per hour
• Location: Stoke Gifford Retirement Village, Edward Parker Road, Bristol, BS16 1YG

As a Fitness Instructor, you will be expected to carry out the following tasks:

• Actively promote gym memberships to residents, focusing on health, wellbeing, and independence benefits.
• Support residents with inductions and develop personal action plans to enhance their health and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with Wellbeing Advisors, Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enablers to encourage gym attendance and class participation.
• Be familiar with all relevant gym policies, work instructions, and guidance, ensuring adherence at all times.
• Provide fitness assessments, consultations, and induction sessions, ensuring comprehensive orientation for all users.

Person Specification

• Previous experience working in a gym
• Organisational and administrative skills
• Customer service experience
• Experience conducting risk assessments
• Understanding of health and safety for clients
• Ability to design and implement fitness programs for gym members
