Job summary

United Utilities is seeking a hands-on Network Maintainer Controller to support the Wastewater Network in the North West. You will perform first-call responses and carry out reactive, planned and proactive maintenance to ensure assets operate safely and reliably.

Key duties include fault investigations, regulatory data recording, and collaboration with internal teams and contractors. A full UK driving licence and a minimum NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Maintenance are required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification in Mechanical Maintenance or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • A basic understanding of mechanical maintenance and the operation of powered assets.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using digital maintenance systems.
  • The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

Responsibilities

  • Providing first-call response to operational incidents and asset failures.
  • Carrying out basic electrical and mechanical maintenance on wastewater-powered assets.
  • Completing fault investigations and root cause analysis to identify long-term solutions.
  • Delivering planned, reactive and proactive maintenance across operational sites.
  • Ensuring maintenance and regulatory information is recorded accurately in company systems.
  • Reviewing alarm performance data and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Liaising with Wastewater Network teams, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Issuing permits to work and access certificates for contractors and staff.
  • Supporting compliance with Environmental Agency permit requirements.
