Fire Testing & Certification Engineer

Location: Sidcup area, Greater London area

The Opportunity

We are looking for a meticulous Fire Testing & Certification Engineer to join our dedicated product compliance team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on precision and wants to take hands-on ownership of the planning, execution, and documentation of fire testing across our market-leading product ranges. You will spend your days balancing complex international standards with practical product design goals.

In this role, you will be the vital link between our internal design teams and external UKAS-accredited laboratories. Working at the forefront of passive fire protection as a Certification and Testing Engineer, you will ensure our lifesaving products maintain total compliance with UK, European, and international regulations while helping to support exciting new product development.

What You Will Do Day-to-Day
  • Own the testing pipeline: Assist with the planning, coordination, and preparation of rigorous fire resistance and smoke control testing programmes.
  • Prepare samples & details: Support the build preparation, specifications, and physical product sampling for external test house audits.
  • Manage external relationships: Liaise directly with certification bodies and test houses, such as third-party UKAS laboratories.
  • Drive technical documentation: Prepare and maintain critical technical data sheets, declarations, fire test reports, assessments, and certification documents.
  • Collaborate on design: Work closely with CAD, Product, and Design teams to ensure all manufactured configurations perfectly reflect tested constructions.
  • Monitor compliance standards: Keep a close eye on regulatory updates, supporting compliance activities for standards including BS 476, EN 1634, and UL.
About You

You are a process-driven professional with a high attention to detail and a methodical approach to compliance. To succeed as our new Certification and Testing Engineer, you must thrive in an environment where accuracy is paramount, bring excellent technical understanding, and have the following to your name:

  • Industry experience: A strong understanding of fire testing and compliance processes within the construction, doorset, joinery, or passive fire protection sectors.
  • Technical standards know-how: Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks, specifically BS 476-22/31.1, EN 1634-1, UL 10C, and UL 1784.
  • CAD capability: Practical experience producing and amending 2D and 3D technical CAD drawings to support testing and certification details.
  • Organisational foundation: Strong written communication skills to produce clear, structured technical documentation, alongside the ability to manage multiple strict deadlines.
  • Desirable extras: Previous experience with Factory Production Control (FPC) audit processes, joinery product development, or change control activities is a major plus.
What Success Looks Like

When you settle into the role, success as a Certification and Testing Engineer will mean seamlessly coordinating complex fire testing programmes with zero disruption to compliance timelines. You will become a trusted technical advisor to our design and production teams, ensuring our technical library is flawlessly maintained and our products remain fully certified to the highest international safety standards.

What We Offer
  • Competitive package: A rewarding salary tailored to your specific testing and passive fire protection experience.
  • Critical safety impact: The chance to take ownership of testing programmes for high-performance products that directly protect human lives.
  • Growth and development: Deep exposure to international certification schemes and leading-edge passive fire engineering.
