Suffolk County Council's Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service in Ipswich is recruiting a Fleet Technician to maintain and repair its fleet of fire appliances and specialist vehicles at Phoenix House Workshops and across Suffolk. You will service, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic faults, including CAN Bus systems, and contribute to a 24/7 call-out capability.

The role requires a City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance, a full UK driving licence (Category C), and

Competenze

• Significant experience maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.
• A City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• A completed apprenticeship would be advantageous.
• A full UK driving licence, including Category C (Class 2).
• A flexible approach to work and willingness to participate in the call-out rota.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and diagnostic skills.

• A good understanding of safe working practices, including working at height, with lifting equipment, inspection pits and controlled substances.

Mansioni

• Maintain and repair Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service’s fleet of fire appliances, specialist vehicles and operational equipment.
• Carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics and major repairs at Phoenix House Workshops and fire stations across Suffolk.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and electronic faults, including work on modern vehicle technologies and CAN Bus systems.
• Apply your technical expertise to a unique and highly specialised fleet, developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Support the 24/7 emergency call-out service, helping to keep vehicles and equipment operational and ready to respond to emergencies.
