Job summary

Serco Limited is seeking a Fire & Security Engineer at Yarl's Wood Immigration Centre, Bedford, to maintain fire detection, life safety and security systems across our campus. This permanent, full-time role involves on-call duties with a schedule Mon-Fri 8:00-16:30 on-site.

You will carry out reactive and preventative maintenance, testing and commissioning of CCTV, access control and alarms, while adhering to health and safety standards and documenting all activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience installing, testing, commissioning and servicing fire and security systems.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and databases.
• Knowledge of BS EN 50131/50132/50133/5839 standards.
• ONC level electrical/electronics qualification or equivalent.
• Clear communication with colleagues at all levels.
• Proactive, self-motivated approach and ability to stay composed in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance across fire detection, life safety and security systems.
• Work safely and in line with Health and Safety legislation at all times.
• Keep planned maintenance schedules up to date and complete.
• Install, test, commission and service CCTV, access control, intruder detection and fire alarms.
• Prioritise workload and meet tight timescales, using initiative to solve problems.
