Job summary

IDES is seeking a Fire & Security Engineer to install, commission, service and maintain fire, intruder, CCTV and access control systems across commercial and industrial sites nationwide.

You will work independently or in project teams, ensuring compliance with British Standards and company procedures, with a varied workload from maintenance to new installations and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Fire & Security systems.
• Minimum 2 years’ installation experience.
• Experience installing, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding Fire & Security systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm systems.
• Carry out routine fire alarm inspections and testing.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on existing fire alarm systems.
• Install, commission, service and maintain intruder alarm systems.
• Install and maintain CCTV systems.

• Read and interpret drawings, specifications and system schematics.
• Liaise professionally with clients and site representatives.
• Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with relevant standards and company procedures.
• Represent IDES professionally across client sites nationwide.

IDES is a nationwide electrical and fire & security contractor operating across the commercial and industrial sectors. We specialise in automotive repair facilities, warehousing, retail, hospitality, and healthcare environments.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Fire & Security Engineer to join our expanding team.

The Role

As a Fire & Security Engineer at IDES, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and fault-finding of fire and security systems across a range of commercial and industrial sites nationwide.

You will work both independently and as part of a wider project team, delivering high-quality work in accordance with relevant British Standards, manufacturers’ requirements, project specifications and IDES company procedures.

The role will involve a varied workload, ranging from planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault-finding through to new installations, system modifications, upgrades and commissioning.

• Carry out system modifications, extensions and upgrades
• Complete commissioning, service and maintenance documentation accurately
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications and system schematics
• Liaise professionally with clients and site representatives
• Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with relevant standards and company procedures
• Represent IDES professionally across client sites nationwide

Knowledge & Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Fire & Security systems
• Minimum 2 years’ installation experience
• Experience installing, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding Fire & Security systems
• Strong knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry practices
• Experience within commercial and industrial environments
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required
• FIA or equivalent fire alarm qualifications
• Experience working within a BAFE SP203-1 accredited organisation
• ECS FESS, IPAF and/or PASMA cards.
• Experience within automotive/bodyshop and retail environments
