Job summary

Port of Dover is seeking a Fire Safety Manager/Engineer to lead the Port’s fire safety strategy and governance. You will embed a Fire Safety Management System and ensure compliance across buildings, operations, and major projects.

You will oversee risk assessments, advise on fire protection, and collaborate with Engineering, Estates and Building Compliance teams to deliver a sustainable framework. The role is fixed-term for 6 months with a handover plan.

Qualifications

• Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, Building Surveying or related technical discipline.
• Advanced knowledge of fire safety principles and legislation (Building Safety Act).
• Membership of GIFireE/MIFireE or actively pursuing membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Port Fire Safety Management System and governance framework.
• Develop fire safety policies, standards and procedures.
• Manage statutory Fire Risk Assessments across the estate.
• Oversee high-risk Fire Risk Assessments and provide technical assurance.
• Advise on active and passive fire protection measures.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Estates and Capital Projects teams.
• Review designs and projects for fire safety compliance.
• Lead fire safety audits, inspections and reporting.
• Develop emergency plans, evacuation strategies and drills.
