Job description

This is a permanent, full-time vacancy that will close in 14 days at 23:59 BST.

The vacancy
  • Position: Fire Safety Project Officer
  • Type: Permanent, Full-time (37 hours per week)

We are seeking a Fire Safety Project Officer to support bpha’s "competent person" in fire safety compliance under relevant legislation and assist the lead office on fire safety initiatives.

You will collaborate closely with and support the Building Safety Manager, Fire Safety Project Manager, and Fire Safety Officers to ensure compliance with legal obligations across all buildings. You will actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote fire safety awareness and enhance safety through continuous improvement of Fire Safety Projects.

Key responsibilities:
  • Plan and monitor Fire Safety projects and work programmes, setting clear performance targets.
  • Ensure projects meet cost, time, and quality expectations, and seek to meet performance standards.
  • Recommend fire safety protective and preventative measures.
  • Provide fire safety advice and guidance to managers, employees, contractors, and partner agencies, in line with legislation and policies.
  • Promote fire safety awareness among residents and propose risk reduction measures.
  • Develop and deliver fire safety training for employees on legislation and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Building Safety Manager, Fire Safety Project Manager, and deputies across all buildings as needed.
Ideal candidate:
  • Extensive experience in fire safety enforcement or risk assessment, including auditing fire risk assessments in various housing types.
  • Deep understanding of fire safety legislation, codes of practice, and guidance applicable to housing.
  • Experience in managing contracts.
  • Knowledge of health and safety in construction environments.
