Job summary

Ipswich Borough Council is seeking a Senior Fire Safety Manager for a six-month initial contract to lead fire safety across its housing stock. The role includes ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating safety checks and maintenance, and guiding major fire safety improvement contracts.

You will oversee a Fire Safety Surveyor and work within a dedicated safety and compliance team, contributing to safe, compliant homes and high service standards for residents.

The Opportunity

• Rate: (GBP53,051 - GBP55,224 per annum)

Job Purpose

A senior post at Ipswich Borough Council; in one of its largest front line services. The Maintenance and Contracts service spends circa. GBP25 million annually repairing, maintaining and improving a retained housing stock of circa 8,000 properties including 15 sheltered schemes and 4 Homeless Families Units to our local \"Ipswich Standard\". The Council takes a holistic approach to stock management and has one seamless service that is responsible for everything in connection with the asset management of our homes; to ensure they remain safe and decent at all times

We are looking for a Fire Safety Manager who will be responsible for ensuring the Council maintains full compliance on all aspects of Fire Safety within its Housing stock, which will include being responsible for meeting all regulatory standards relating to Fire Legislation, ensuring ongoing safety checks, testing, inspection and maintenance and ensuring all of the relevant HRA assets are fully maintained in line with the newly adopted fire safety strategies.

This is an exciting time to join us as we have just entered into contracts with suppliers to carry out major fire safety improvements across our housing stock. The postholder will therefore also be responsible for providing fire engineering advice and expertise, to enable these contracts to successfully progress.

The postholder will be expected to manage a Fire Safety Surveyor and their professional development and work as part of a safety and compliance team, ensuring homes remain safe at all times
