Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) is recruiting a Fire Safety Inspector to join one of five hubs in Eastleigh. You will carry out risk-based inspections, advise owners on fire risk reduction, and work with other authorities on statutory consultations.

Role involves responding to alleged risks, enforcing the Fire Safety Order, and updating policy documents. DBS check is required; full training will be provided with accredited qualifications.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current fire safety legislation and its application in the UK.
• Previous fire safety experience is desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to undertake accredited training and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Risk Based Inspection Programme, planned and reactive.
• Provide advice and guidance to business owners to reduce fire risk.
• Enforce the Fire Safety Order, collect evidence, and write reports.
• Review and update policy documents and participate in SAG processes.
