Job summary

Bristol City Council is seeking an experienced Fire Safety Advisor to join the Building Practice Team in Corporate Landlord Services. You will provide specialist fire safety guidance across a diverse property portfolio and lead audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews to protect staff and the public.

The role supports policy development, safety governance and training, fostering a proactive fire safety culture throughout the organisation. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation and best practice.
• Experience in audits, inspections, risk assessments and compliance reviews.
• Ability to interpret technical fire safety information for practical use.
• Excellent communication with managers, contractors and senior stakeholders.
• Proactive, analytical and detail‑oriented in a complex portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on fire safety to managers and contractors.
• Undertake fire safety audits, inspections and risk assessments; monitor compliance.
• Support training, policy development and safety governance activities.
• Contribute to continual improvement of fire safety across council estates.
