Job summary

Effective Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a skilled Fire Pump Engineer to service, maintain and install fire pump systems across the Midlands. The role is field-based, requiring travel to customer sites and fault finding on diesel engines and related equipment.

You will work with office coordinators and receive a company vehicle, phone, tablet and PPE, supporting safe, efficient operation and long-term service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Fire Pump Engineer or closely related engineering role.
  • Good knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical faults and work with electrical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out service and planned maintenance on fire pumps and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Install fire pumps at customer sites and inspect equipment for maintenance needs.
  • Travel between customer sites and manage workload efficiently.
  • Provide a professional service and build strong customer relationships.

Job description

Fire Pump Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Fire Pump Engineer to join a long-established specialist engineering business, covering the Midlands.

This is a home-based field service position carrying out the service, maintenance, fault finding and installation of fire pumps and associated equipment at customer sites.

The position would suit an experienced Fire Pump Engineer or an engineer from a closely related background who has strong knowledge of diesel engines and the ability to confidently diagnose both mechanical and electrical faults.

You will be supported by dedicated office coordinators and provided with a new company vehicle, phone, tablet, PPE and everything required to carry out the role effectively.

The Role
  • Carrying out service and planned maintenance on fire pumps and associated equipment.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Carrying out fire pump installations at customer premises.
  • Inspecting equipment and identifying potential faults or maintenance requirements.
  • Working with diesel engines and associated mechanical components.
  • Fault finding across electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ensuring equipment is operating safely, efficiently and reliably.
  • Completing work in accordance with required technical and safety standards.
  • Managing your workload effectively while travelling between customer sites.
  • Providing a professional service and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working as a Fire Pump Engineer or within a closely related engineering position.
  • Experience servicing, maintaining or repairing fire pumps or similar equipment.
  • Good knowledge and practical experience of diesel engines.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • The ability to logically diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Electrical knowledge would be highly advantageous.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications would be desirable but are not essential.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to your work.
  • The ability to work independently in a field-based position.
  • A valid CSCS card.
  • A full UK driving licence.
