Job Description

What will you be doing?

As a Fire Engineer, you will join a team in Derby/Warrington to support our activities within the Nuclear Sector.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  1. Prepare Fire Safety Strategies Documents for sites or buildings (preferably industrial facilities).
  2. Fire Protection Basis of Design.
  3. Analyse building designs and layouts to incorporate effective fire protection systems.
  4. ALARP demonstrations or FRAs studies (Fire Risk Assessment) to identify fire hazards and vulnerabilities.
  5. Codes and Standards Suitability Analysis (i.e. BS 9999, BS 476, BS 7974, NFPA codes, IFC, EN 54 series, IAEA safety standards, etc.).
  6. Gap Management Reports.
  7. Design documentation for fire systems (requirements, system design descriptions, P&IDs, equipment lists, equipment sizing calculations).

Who are we looking for?

  1. Familiarity with fire standards and safety regulations, preferably for the power sector.
  2. Ability to analyse complex problems, propose innovative solutions, and ensure designs meet project specifications and standards.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required:

  1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, fire engineering, chemical engineering or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in fire engineering scope, preferably within the energy sector.
  3. Knowledge of fire codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
