Job summary

EA-RS Group Ltd is seeking a Fire and Security Systems Designer for a Belfast-based hybrid role. The designer will create fire detection and life-safety system layouts, perform calculations, and prepare technical submissions in line with BS5839-1 standards.

You will liaise with customers and project teams, review specifications, conduct site surveys, and produce clear design documentation using AutoCAD and Revit. Strong communication and multitasking are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience designing fire detection systems in the fire and security industry.
• Good knowledge of BS5839-1 and related fire detection regulations and standards
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and customer requirements
• Experience producing design documentation and technical calculations
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word)
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

About the Role

The purpose of the position of Fire and Security Systems Designer:

• Design fire detection and life-safety systems in accordance with BS5839-1 and relevant standards
• Produce system layouts, schematics, calculations and technical documentation

What We’re Looking For

• Strong IT skills – confident using AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word,
• Experience and proficiency in using Autocad 2D (essential).
• Revit 3D experience (highly desirable).
• Excellent communication – able to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, managers and external stakeholders at different levels.
• Strong numeracy and literacy – able to understand and work accurately with numbers, written information, records and reports.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team – capable of taking initiative and managing tasks without constant supervision, while also collaborating effectively with colleagues.
• Excellent organisation and time management – able to manage a busy workload, prioritise competing tasks, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure.
