Job summary

GET Staff is seeking a Fire Alarm Engineer to service and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems across London and the South East. You will perform fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs to BS 5839 compliant systems.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll complete service reports and coordinate with clients on-site. A company van and fuel card are provided, plus 26 days holiday and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems.
• Strong knowledge of BS 5839-1 and BS 5839-6.
• Excellent fault diagnosis and troubleshooting abilities.
• Clear communication and professional client-site conduct.
• Full, valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics and system troubleshooting.
• Identifying faults and recommending effective solutions to minimise downtime.
• Ensuring all work meets BS 5839 standards and complete service reports.
• Manage workloads and attend on-site appointments in a timely manner.

Fire Alarm Engineer Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join a growing team, servicing and maintaining fire alarm and life safety systems across a range of commercial and industrial environments.

Fire Alarm Engineer Role & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing fire alarm and life safety systems across a range of client sites.

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics and system troubleshooting.
• Identifying faults and recommending effective solutions to minimise system downtime.
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with relevant British Standards, including BS 5839.
• Completing service reports, maintenance records and other required documentation accurately.
• Managing workloads effectively and attending appointments in a timely manner.

Fire Alarm Engineer Skills & Experience Required:

• Proven, hands-on experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
• A good understanding of BS 5839-1 and BS 5839-6.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work professionally on client sites.
• A self-motivated, organised approach with the ability to manage workloads effectively.
• A full, valid UK driving licence.
