Role Purpose

The Financial Transactions Team Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective and timely execution of all Financial Transactions processes. This role drives cultural and process improvements, enhances team performance, and supports strategic objectives. The successful candidate will liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and clients, fostering a high-performing, customer-focused team environment.

Operational – Key Tasks

  • Lead and manage the Financial Transactions Team, conducting regular 121 meetings and team sessions to support performance and development.
  • Provide direction and prioritization support to ensure all un-invoiced bookings and outstanding queries are addressed efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with the line manager and third-party stakeholders to maximize the volume of bookings processed via automated invoicing.
  • Partner with the MI Team to design, produce, and deliver insightful reports for Senior Management.
  • Drive continuous improvements in Financial Transactions processes, identifying efficiencies and performance enhancements.
  • Manage communication with high-risk clients/suppliers to resolve queries or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Work with internal departments to optimize the financial journey and improve stakeholder experiences.
  • Monitor and review team performance standards to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality Financial Transactions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external partners.
  • Support and contribute to projects impacting the Financial Transactions function, providing expertise and leadership.
  • Promote the company values of Listen, Adapt, Deliver in all interactions and decisions, championing operational excellence.

People Management

  • Set expectations on appraisals and 121s, ensuring at least two reviews annually, with regular check-ins as needed.
  • Support and coach individual and team performance.
  • Maximize results by increasing productivity and improving overall performance.
  • Encourage a customer-focused environment with clear responsibilities and expectations.
  • Hold regular team talks to keep staff informed about performance and key issues.
  • Be an ambassador of our brand, creating a motivating and thriving culture.
  • Champion wellbeing and mental health, creating a safe space for conversations and supporting work-life balance.
  • Lead collaboratively to support a motivated workforce aligned with our values and principles.

Compliance and Governance

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure departmental processes and standards are followed.
  • Undertake all mandatory training and staff inductions.
  • Safeguard personal information, comply with data security policies, and report incidents.
  • Adhere to compliance standards including ISO, PCI DSS, GDPR, and H&S.
  • Support ESG principles by promoting sustainability, diversity, and inclusion.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a billing or financial operations leadership role preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising across departments and with external partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with billing or ERP systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines professionally.
