Job summary

Accountable Recruitment Limited is partnering with a large, values-driven organisation to recruit a Qualified Financial Reporting Manager in Widnes. The role will own a complex financial controls function across a multi-entity group, ensuring robust governance, statutory reporting compliance and a best-in-class control environment.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Controls, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders on financial reporting, compliance, treasury and audit matters.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA or CIMA with strong technical accounting and controls experience.
• Extensive knowledge of UK accounting standards and statutory reporting.
• Proven experience in leading finance teams and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the financial controls framework for a multi-entity group.
• Oversee consolidation of group and subsidiary accounts and monthly balance sheet reporting.
• Lead statutory accounts preparation and external audit coordination.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to senior stakeholders and drive process improvements.

Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a large, well-established and values-driven organisation to recruit a Qualified Financial Reporting Manager.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a technically strong finance candidate to take ownership of a complex financial controls function within a sizeable multi-entity organisation. The role will be pivotal in ensuring robust financial governance, statutory reporting compliance and a best-in-class control environment, while supporting strategic growth initiatives and organisational development.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Controls, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing expertise on financial reporting, compliance, treasury and audit matters.

This role offers a flexible hybrid working model, with attendance at the Widnes office required at least once per week.

The Role

• Maintaining and developing the organisation's financial controls framework
• Ensuring balance sheet integrity and overseeing monthly balance sheet and cash flow reporting
• Leading the preparation and review of statutory accounts and financial statements
• Managing the consolidation of group and subsidiary accounts
• Coordinating external audits and managing auditor relationships
• Overseeing regulatory and compliance reporting requirements, including HMRC and other statutory submissions
• Leading treasury accounting activities, liquidity reporting and cash flow forecasting
• Supporting acquisitions, mergers and business integration projects from a finance perspective
• Driving process improvements, automation initiatives and financial control enhancements
• Providing clear technical accounting guidance and financial insights to senior stakeholders
• Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified
• Significant experience within financial accounting, financial controls, audit or statutory reporting
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and financial governance requirements
• Proven experience producing consolidated group accounts
• Experience managing external audit processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrable leadership experience with a track record of developing teams
• Advanced Excel skills

Highly Desirable

• Experience working within the charity or not-for-profit sector
• M&A accounting and business integration experience
• Exposure to complex group structures
• Experience leading finance transformation or control improvement projects
