Job summary

Simplyhealth, a leading UK healthcare access provider, is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to ensure accurate month-end close, robust financial reporting, and meaningful insights for stakeholders across the organisation. You will leverage Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI and Excel to improve processes, strengthen controls and drive efficiencies in reporting and data quality.

Qualifications

• Hands-on accounting experience with month-end close.
• Experience producing management accounts and variance analyses.
• Ability to explain performance to stakeholders across Finance and FP&A.
• Familiarity with payroll accounting and Solvency UK reporting.

Responsibilities

• Preparing accurate monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Supporting month-end close activities and ensuring financial information is delivered accurately and on time.
• Maintaining a strong financial control environment through robust reconciliations, analytical reviews and issue resolution.
• Producing insightful variance analysis and commentary against budget, forecast and prior year performance.
• Acting as the finance lead for payroll accounting and associated controls and reporting.
• Supporting claims provision calculations and Solvency UK reporting activities.
• Partnering with Finance and operational stakeholders to provide insight, challenge and support effective decision‑making.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and planning activities.
• Producing management information, reporting packs and Board-level reporting.
• Supporting year-end reporting, statutory accounts preparation and audit activities.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial reporting processes, controls and data quality.

As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you'll play a key role in ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, timely and robust, helping to maintain confidence in our numbers and support informed decision-making across the business.

This is a hands-on accounting role where you'll support month-end close, produce reliable financial information and provide meaningful financial insight to stakeholders across the organisation. Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Commercial Finance and FP&A, you'll help explain performance, identify risks and contribute to high-quality reporting that supports both operational and strategic decisions.

You'll also have the opportunity to improve reporting processes, strengthen financial controls and leverage tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI and Excel to drive efficiencies and enhance financial insight.
