What we're looking for

We are seeking an experienced Financial Planning Consultant to conduct a full review of our financial processes and outputs-particularly focused on our Profit & Loss (P&L) tracking, Sales Pipeline, Sales Forecasting, and Actuals vs Forecast analysis. You will be responsible for identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, and advising on best practices for setting up a more robust financial planning and reporting structure that is scalable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a full diagnostic review of our current financial spreadsheets and

reporting processes.

• Assess accuracy, consistency, and usability of our:

oP&L tracking

oSales pipeline and forecast

oActuals vs predicted performance

oCost tracking and forecasting methods

• Identify key weaknesses, inefficiencies, and risks in our current approach.

• Develop a clear and actionable roadmap to improve financial planning and forecasting accuracy.

• Recommend tools, processes or systems (e.g. moving beyond spreadsheets, introducing lightweight forecasting software) tailored to a company of our size and maturity.

• If appropriate, support with implementation of any agreed changes.

• Deliver a final report and debrief with key stakeholders.

Recruitment

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial planning, FP&A, or commercial finance-ideally within growth-stage or SME environments.

• Strong experience in diagnosing and improving financial systems where spreadsheet-based processes are in place.

• Demonstrable expertise in forecasting, modelling, and building scalable financial frameworks.

• Comfortable working independently, quickly understanding business operations and identifying key metrics and reporting needs.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills-able to explain complex financial issues to non-finance stakeholders.

• Experience in recommending and/or implementing tools (e.g. Float, Fathom, Spotlight, or lightweight ERP systems) is a strong plus.

Ideal Background:

• Consultancy background or experience in FP&A roles.

• Experience supporting fast-growing service businesses or agencies.

• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets with a pragmatic approach to balancing

structure with speed.

What success looks like:

• Clear documentation of current-state analysis.

• Honest and constructive feedback on where we are going wrong.

• Practical, cost-effective recommendations on how to improve.

• Tangible improvements in our ability to plan, predict, and track financial

performance.
