Location: Essex / Hybrid (with travel to London and East Sussex as required)

Labtek Group is a fast-growing multi-company group operating across mechanical & electrical contracting, fire protection, waste management, and manufacturing. With over 60 in-house engineers and a projected group turnover of £15M, we’re on a mission to scale sustainably and profitably. We are now seeking a commercially minded Financial Director or Financial Controller to join our leadership team and support our next phase of growth.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Group CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing the group’s financial strategy, compliance, reporting, and control functions. You’ll play a key role in budgeting, cash flow management, group consolidation, and supporting acquisitions and integrations. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all group financial operations, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and forecasting
• Own the month-end and year-end processes across all group entities
• Develop and monitor budgets, KPIs, and financial plans aligned with group strategy
• Manage relationships with external accountants, banks, and funding partners
• Lead financial due diligence and integration for acquisitions
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and tax obligations
• Support board-level decision making with accurate, timely reporting and insight
• Implement and refine financial controls and reporting systems
  
  

Requirements:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
• Experience in a similar role (FD, FC, or Head of Finance), ideally within construction, engineering, or multi-entity SMEs
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence strategic decisions
• Hands-on and adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth business
• Proficient with cloud-based accounting systems (Xero preferred) and Excel

• Experience with M&A, EMI schemes, and group consolidations
• Understanding of CIS, R&D tax credits, and HMRC compliance
