Job summary

A leading company in professional services is seeking a Finance Director to join their Senior Leadership Team. Finance Director | SME | SW London (Richmond, Office-based Hybrid)

Location: Richmond (2 mins from the station)

Industry: Professional Services | Certified B Corp

Size: ~75 people and scaling

Leadership: Part of the SLT

Model: Employee-Owned Business (EOB)

This is a rare opportunity to step into a strategic Finance Director role within a growing, purpose-led SME. You'll sit on the Senior Leadership Team and play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, supporting scaling operations, and mentoring a close-knit team.

This company has grown from 2 to 72+ people and is continuing to scale sustainably. They're a certified B Corp, driven by purpose, and focused on building something meaningful. The culture is highly collaborative, so the team is ideally looking for someone who can be present in the Richmond office regularly. It’s a visible, people-facing role with real influence.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Finance Leadership

  • Act as a key advisor to the MD and Board on strategic direction, financial health, and commercial decision-making
  • Translate business goals into robust financial strategies that support long-term growth
  • Shape and steer company financial policies to support a values-led, EOT-owned business
  • Design and implement strong internal controls and governance to ensure financial resilience
  • Oversee risk management processes, identify potential threats, and implement mitigations
  • Manage insurance renewals, legal compliance, and oversee the Company Secretary responsibilities

Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis

  • Lead on financial planning cycles including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term modelling
  • Deliver accurate, timely and insightful management reports and board packs
  • Liaise with external accountants on statutory accounts and financial compliance

Cashflow, Forecasting & KPI Tracking

  • Ensure the business meets financial commitments and aligns with EOT distribution rules
  • Lead on KPI development and reporting to support data-driven decisions
  • Directly manage the Financial Controller and HR Manager, fostering continuous improvement
  • Build and empower a finance team that can evolve with the business
  • Act as a mentor and sounding board, developing team capability and succession
  • Operate as a visible member of the SLT, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Work cross-functionally with delivery, technical, and client teams to embed commercial awareness
  • Support learning and financial literacy across the wider leadership team

What You’ll Bring:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
  • Strong financial leadership experience within an SME — ideally in a services or people business
  • A commercial mindset, hands-on attitude, and the gravitas to influence at board level
  • Solid understanding of UK accounting standards, tax, and employment frameworks
  • Experience in an EOT or BCorp business (nice to have)
  • Excellent communication and a collaborative, values-led approach
