Job summary

Rutland Regional Medical Center is seeking a Financial Counselor to identify payer sources for uninsured and underinsured patients and determine patient financial responsibility for services, collecting co-pays, deductibles and deposits prior to scheduled services. This role acts as a liaison between patients, physicians and payers.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, sociology or related field and at least two years of related experience, plus CAC

• Calculate income, balances and deposits; handle deposits and co-pays.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Certified Application Counselor (CAC) or required to obtain within 90 days of hire

• Ability to review patients billing information in-person or on the phone verbally and in writing: explain financial assistance program and help with insurance enrollment when applicable.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policy and regulation of heathcare programs.
• Demonstrated moderate knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Math skills: required to calculate income, balances & deposits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required to deal with patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise high degree of confidentiality.

Pay Range: $19.97 - $29.09
