Job summary

The Part-Time Finance People is seeking a qualified Financial Controller to lead the finance function for growing SMEs on a part-time basis. The role is two days per week, onsite in Leeds, with a self-employed arrangement and a rate of £35 per hour.

You will drive management accounts, cashflow, budgeting, and financial controls, including Xero-based processes and a small team leadership. Ideal candidates are ACCA/CIMA/ACMA/FCCA/ICAEW or QBE with 5+ years’ experience, and must be ready to start

Qualifications

• Qualified and experienced Financial Controller with SME experience.
• Able to start quickly on a part-time, self-employed basis with 2 days per week.
• Experience leading a small finance team and driving controls.
• Proficient in Xero and Excel; able to present financial information to non-financial leaders.
• A minimum of 2 years UK-based experience as a Financial Controller is required.

About the role

The role is to work with our clients in their business, this could be within a variety of industries including professional services, manufacturing, retail/wholesale, construction, technology or media. The basics in the finance function are covered but there is a need for an experienced and commercially-minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function and help move the business forward, on a part‑time basis.

About You

You should be a qualified and experienced Financial Controller with experience working in growing SMEs. Ideally, you are already self‑employed and available quickly with at least 2 days of availability per week.

Your expertise should include

• management accounts
• balance sheet reconciliations
• budgets, cashflow and profit forecasting
• experience and working knowledge of Xero
• experience of managing and leading a small team
• experienced in assessing and implementing appropriate financial controlsyear‑end processes (but not statutory accounts)
• experienced excel user including pivots, sumifs and graphs
• proficiency in presenting financial and commercial information to non‑financial leaders
• you must be fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACMA/FCCA/ICAEW) or QBE (5+ years) with experience managing a finance team

As this role is two days a week (self employed basis) it could work alongside other client work

Rate of pay: £35 per hour

Location: Leeds & Surrounding areas - Onsite 2 days p/week
