Job summary

Mature Accountants Ltd is recruiting a hands‑on Financial Controller for a growing retail and e‑commerce business with turnover around £45m. The role is office‑based in West Yorkshire and offers £70,000 per year, reporting to the CFO and leading a small finance team.

You will own the day‑to‑day finance, manage month‑end, oversee VAT/payroll and audits, and drive improvements in reporting and controls as the business scales.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification; strong qualified‑by‑experience candidates considered.
• Experience in Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar roles.
• Strong month‑end reporting and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
• Experience in e‑commerce, retail or stock‑based businesses.

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day finance and oversee a small accounts team.
• Own the month‑end process and produce management information.
• Oversee sales reconciliations across e‑commerce platforms and gateways.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, supplier payments and working capital.
• Oversee stock accounting, purchasing and import costs.
• Prepare VAT returns and oversee payroll and compliance.
• Lead the annual audit process with external accountants.
• Support group reporting including overseas subsidiaries.
• Review and improve financial systems, controls and reporting.
• Collaborate with CFO to provide reliable financial information for decisions.
