Job summary

Altum Consulting are partnering with a global media client to recruit for a Financial Controller. The role offers a broad, hands-on opportunity with visibility across the business, owning monthly reporting, controls, and team leadership.

You'll work with senior stakeholders, applying strong IFRS knowledge and Group-level reporting experience. The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract with an immediate start for a candidate who can hit the ground running.

Qualifications

• Big 4 trained, ACA or CA qualified.
• Experience operating as a Financial Controller.
• Strong Group-level reporting experience.
• Post-qualified experience within industry in the UK.
• Strong IFRS knowledge.
• Confident across month-end, financial controls, audit and balance sheet review.
• Previous team management experience.
• Available immediately or on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery and review of accurate monthly management accounts.
• Lead detailed reviews of financials, including variance analysis vs budget and prior year.
• Maintain robust financial control environment and ensure IFRS compliance.
• Review key balance sheet reconciliations and accounting entries.
• Lead month-end reporting, commentary and analysis.
• Improve the month-end close with greater efficiency and automation.
• Lead the year-end audit and manage queries through to resolution.
• Support accounting changes arising from projects and wider business developments.
• Manage and develop the finance team.

Altum Consulting are partnering with a global media client to recruit for a Financial Controller, offering the chance to work in a complex, listed business environment. This is a broad, hands-on opportunity with real visibility across the business. Alongside owning monthly financial reporting, controls and the integrity of the numbers, you'll lead and develop a team, work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation and play an active role in supporting commercial decision-making.

We're looking for someone already operating at Financial Controller level, with strong technical foundations, Group-level experience and the confidence to build relationships across finance and the wider business. You'll need to be technically credible, commercially minded and comfortable leading people in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Own the delivery and review of accurate monthly management accounts.

• Lead detailed reviews of the financials, including variance analysis against budget and prior year.

• Maintain a robust financial control environment and ensure compliance with IFRS and Group accounting policies.

• Review key balance sheet reconciliations and accounting entries.

• Lead month-end reporting, commentary and analysis.

• Improve the month-end close, with a focus on efficiency, automation and reducing reporting timelines.

• Lead the year-end audit and manage queries through to resolution.

• Support accounting changes arising from projects and wider business developments.

• Manage and develop a team.

What we're looking for:

• Big 4 trained, ACA or CA qualified

• Previous experience operating as a Financial Controller

• Strong Group-level reporting experience

• A few years of post-qualified experience within industry, including experience operating in the UK market

• Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS

• Confident across month-end, financial controls, audit and balance sheet review

• Previous team management experience

• Someone comfortable joining a new business and getting up to speed quickly
