Job summary

The Hut Group in Manchester is seeking a Financial Controller for Beauty Stock on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will lead the Beauty Stock Finance Team, manage inventory controls, month‑end close, and deliver robust financial reporting.

You will partner with senior stakeholders, drive process improvements, and provide accurate stock valuations and provisions. The role offers on‑site facilities and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA)
• Experience in leading and developing Finance teams
• Analytical skills with the ability to summarise and interpret data for stakeholders
• Proven record of delivering against targets and improving processes
• Strong leadership and relationship-building with key stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor 3-4 direct reports with clear objectives and incentives
• Oversee inventory-related month-end and year-end close processes
• Lead the provision of stock valuations, provisions, write-offs and adjustments
• Run monthly balance sheet reviews and brief the CEO/FD on risks and opportunities
• Review aged/obsolete stock and ensure appropriate stock provisions
• Develop and review financial reporting and dashboards for stock performance

As Financial Controller - Beauty Stock , you’ll:

• Lead and mentor3-4direct reportsby providing clearobjectivesand incentives to ensurehigh levelsof performance and all deliverables are met.
• Lead the preparation,reviewand reconciliation of inventory-related financial data, including stock valuations, provisions,write-offsand other inventory adjustments.
• Take ownership of inventory-related month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring balances areaccurate,completeand reported in line with agreed timelines and accounting requirements.
• Lead monthly balance sheet review meeting and ensure that HOF and FD are advised of risk and opportunity.
• Review and analyse aged,obsoleteand expired stock, ensuringappropriate provisionsaremaintainedand key risks, trends and opportunities are clearly communicated to management.
• Lead the provision of inventory-related information and supporting documentation for internal and external audits, acting as a key point of contact for inventory finance queries.
• Develop and review financial reporting,analysisand dashboards toprovideclear insight into stock performance, variances,trendsand key risks.
• Act as a key finance business partner for inventory-related matters, providing insight and challenge to support decision-making and protect the accuracy of inventory and the P&L.

What skills and experience do I need for this role?
