Job summary

MET Professional is partnering with a growing manufacturing business in the West Midlands to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. This newly created role offers ownership of the finance function and close collaboration with the senior leadership team.

You will drive monthly management accounts, cash flow, budgeting, stock costing, and margin analysis while developing the finance team and partnering with operations to identify improvements.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/FCCA credentials.
• Senior finance or Financial Controller experience in manufacturing/SME.
• Strong management accounting and commercial finance experience.
• Stock, inventory, standard costing and margin analysis knowledge.
• Experience leading a finance team and communicating financial information.

Financial Controller - Manufacturing

Location: Bilston, West Midlands

Salary: £60,000-£70,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5.00pm

MET Professional is working with an established and growing manufacturing business in the West Midlands to recruit an experienced Financial Controller.

This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function, work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in the future development of the business.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of the finance function, providing accurate financial information, commercial insight and support to the senior management team.

• Overseeing the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Managing month‑end processes and ensuring accurate, timely financial information.
• Monitoring cash flow, budgets and financial performance.
• Overseeing stock and inventory accounting, standard costing and product costing.
• Analysing margins, identifying trends and providing commercial insight to support business decisions.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Leading and developing the finance team.
• Working closely with operational teams to understand business performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting the senior leadership team with financial analysis and strategic decision‑making.
• Developing financial processes, controls and reporting to support the continued growth of the business.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with commercial awareness and a hands‑on approach.

Essential requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or FCCA).
• Previous experience in a senior finance or Financial Controller position within a manufacturing or industrial SME.
• Strong management accounting and commercial finance experience.
• A thorough understanding of stock, inventory, standard costing, product costing and margin analysis.
• Experience managing budgets, cash flow, month‑end reporting.
• Previous experience leading and developing a finance team.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to interpret and communicate financial information.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach with the ability to work closely with operational and senior management teams.

You will be comfortable working in a hands‑on environment where you can take ownership, use your initiative and make a genuine difference.
