Job summary

Owen Daniels in Leicester seeks a financially qualified Controller to lead the finance function for a growing manufacturing business. You will own product costing, WIP and financial reporting, interfacing with production, procurement and operations to drive performance.

The role is permanent with standard hours and hybrid working (2–3 days WFH after established) and a small finance team to manage.

Qualifications

• Must be fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CA) or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing/engineering or complex project environments.
• Strong knowledge of WIP, cost accounting and inventory accounting.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of the finance function and management of a small finance team.
• Ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation.
• Oversee financial reporting and control of WIP.
• Collaborate with production, operations, procurement and supply chain to improve financial performance.
• Support month-end, budgeting, forecasting and cost modelling.

If so, a growing manufacturing business based in Leicester is actively seeking a Financial Controller to take responsibility for the delivery of the finance function!

Financial Controller

Permanent Position

Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Hybrid – 2-3 Days WFH Once Established

Job Responsibilities:

• Taking responsibility for the delivery of the finance function and managing a small finance team
• Ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, financial reporting and effective control of WIP
• Managing WIP accounting across multiple production stages, investigating variances and improving financial controls
• Working closely with production, operations, procurement and supply chain teams to improve financial performance and reporting
• Supporting month-end, budgeting, forecasting, cost modelling and continuous improvement across the finance function

Essential Skills:

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent (CIMA preferred)
• Strong experience within a manufacturing, engineering or complex project-based environment, with a strong understanding of production and procurement processes
• Proven experience managing significant WIP balances, with strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory accounting
• Knowledge of IFRS inventory accounting and experience using ERP systems
