Job summary

The Best Connection is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function in a manufacturing SME. The role requires a hands-on, commercially minded finance leader who can manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and reporting to drive profitability.

Key responsibilities include producing monthly management accounts, overseeing stock control and product costing, and leading the finance team while collaborating with operations to improve efficiency and business performance.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA or FCCA).
• Experience as Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial SME.
• Proven experience with management accounts, stock/inventory control, costing, budgeting, cash flow, margin analysis and month-end reporting.

Working hours: 08:00-17:00 Monday- Friday

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day finance function.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management.
• Monitor and analyse stock valuation, inventory, and product costing.
• Review margins, profitability, and operational performance.
• Manage month-end and year-end processes.
• Ensure financial controls, compliance, and reporting standards are maintained.
• Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and reporting.
• Lead, develop, and manage the finance team.
• Work closely with operational departments to drive business improvement and efficiency.

Requirements

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA or FCCA).
• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance role.
• Strong background within a manufacturing or industrial SME environment.
• Proven experience with:

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
