Job summary

Lord Search & Selection Ltd seeks a Financial Controller to head the finance function, reporting to the Board in a hands-on role across multiple UK sites.

You will produce timely monthly management accounts with concise commentary, strengthen controls, and drive budgeting, forecasting and cash flow. The role includes presenting information to budget-holders and occasional site travel.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with SME background.

Job description

This independent, profitable, long-established, entrepreneurial, multi-site, distribution company, with a £40m+turnover, seeks a new Financial Controller to leads its finance function. It is the ‘number one’ finance position for the company.

Reporting to the Board, the Financial Controller will produce timely, accurate monthly management accounts together with understandable, concise analysis, commentary and first-class information for decision‑making. This is very much a ‘hands‑on’ role, where you will improve financial controls to highlight the trends in revenue, gross margin and profitability, whilst simultaneously ensuring the finance team of five are efficiently performing ledger, credit control and cash/banking activities.

The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified accountant, with a broad accounting background in an SME environment, who is comfortable handling responsibility, and has a curious/continuous improvement mindset. You will be able enhance the budgeting/forecasting/cashflow aspects to facilitate improved financial awareness company‑wide. You will be effective in controlling multi-site business finances, have a track record of improving processes, and will have a willingness to travel occasionally to operational sites in the UK to present and explain financial information to budget-holders.
