Job summary

Accountable Recruitment Limited in Warrington is seeking a Financial Controller to own statutory reporting, group consolidations and audit delivery within a multi-entity group. This hands-on role reports to the CFO and offers exposure to senior leadership.

You'll strengthen financial controls, improve month-end processes and drive governance, with a focus on UK GAAP (FRS102) and complex reporting across entities.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or ICAS qualified; trained within an audit practice environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS102) and statutory financial reporting.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing year-end audit processes.
• Exposure to group consolidations and multi-entity reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience moving a business towards an audit-ready environment.
• Exposure to complex group structures.
• Exposure to ERP system improvements and finance transformation projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the year-end process and act as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Manage the preparation of statutory accounts across multiple legal entities.
• Produce consolidated group financial statements and supporting disclosures.
• Ensure balance sheet integrity through robust reconciliation and review processes.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies in line with UK GAAP and relevant reporting standards.
• Prepare technical accounting papers and provide guidance on complex accounting matters.
• Strengthen the group's financial control framework and improve governance processes.
• Drive improvements to month-end reporting accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage statutory and regulatory filing requirements.
• Partner with external advisers on tax and compliance matters.
• Support finance systems and process improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and support members of the wider finance team.

Financial Controller / North-West (Warrington) / Salary £65,000

Accountable Recruitment are pleased to be partnering with a growing, multi-entity organisation to recruit a Financial Controller.

This is a newly created position offering significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape the financial control environment within a complex group structure. Reporting directly to the CFO, the successful candidate will take ownership of financial accounting, statutory reporting and external audit management, whilst helping to strengthen controls and improve reporting processes across the business.

We're particularly interested in speaking with practice-trained candidates looking to make their first or second move into industry, or individuals who have retained a strong technical accounting focus throughout their career.

The Role

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys getting into the detail whilst also influencing wider finance improvements. You'll take the lead on statutory reporting, group consolidations and audit delivery, ensuring the business maintains high standards of financial governance and compliance.

The role will also play an important part in enhancing financial controls, improving month-end processes and supporting the continued development of the finance function.

We're looking for a technically strong finance professional with a background in audit and financial reporting.

• Exposure to group consolidations and multi-entity reporting.
