Forge Talent are partnering with a large, fast-growing organisation currently experiencing significant expansion, with huge turnover and plans to reach £1bn in the coming years. Due to increased demand and rising workload across the finance function, the business is creating an additional senior finance role to strengthen the team and support continued growth.

The Role

This role has been designed for a high-calibre Financial Accountant who wants a clear and genuine progression pathway. The successful candidate will become number two to the Financial Controller, with the expectation of stepping into the Financial Controller role within the next 2–3 years as responsibilities are gradually handed over.

You will join a high-performing finance team at a critical time in the company’s growth, taking on technical and commercial responsibilities while supporting the operational side of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Financial Controller and wider finance team with all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and compliance.
• Assist in year-end and audit processes; act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
• Manage complex accounting tasks, balance sheet integrity, and monthly close processes.
• Provide financial insight and analysis to support decision-making across the business.
• Help streamline and improve financial processes as the team scales with business growth.
• Work closely with stakeholders across the business—from senior leadership to operational teams.
• Take on additional responsibilities over time as part of a structured succession plan.
• Support with tax-related matters (advantageous but not essential).
• Work collaboratively within a team of peers who will gradually transition responsibilities to you.

Experience

• Strong all-round Financial Accountant with solid technical grounding.
• Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working with a wide variety of personalities—from owners to warehouse staff.
• Able to build trust quickly and operate confidently in a large, fast-paced environment.
• Experience liaising with auditors and understanding audit requirements.
• Tax knowledge beneficial but not essential.
• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience.
