Job summary

Gifford and Partners Recruitment Ltd. (GAP) are helping an ambitious privately owned B2B group recruit a Financial Controller. You will lead a small accounting team, deliver UK and overseas monthly management accounts, and oversee year-end processes while reporting to the CFO and board.

The role focuses on process improvements, efficient financial controls, tender and HMRC compliance, and partnering operations to drive growth across locations.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACCA/ACMA or qualified by experience with prior management exposure.
• Technically strong accounting ability with capability to provide board-level review and value-add insights.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts for UK and overseas entities.
• Oversee annual accounts and year-end stock takes.
• Complete tender questionnaires re financials and quarterly VAT returns.
• Ensure HMRC compliance and reporting.
• Manage monthly payroll reconciliation and supplier payments.
• Provide ad hoc financial reporting as required.
• Manage and train a small accounting team (up to 8) across locations.
• Stakeholder management with operations, finance, senior leadership and board.

Job description

A privately owned B2B that has demonstrated a strong dual-engine growth strategy, balancing robust organic expansion, with plentiful strategic acquisitions has engaged Gifford and Partners to help them appoint a key role of Financial Controller. Reporting to the CFO in a highly profitable and cash rich business, this is a great position to targeting an ambitious Management Accountant, Finance Manager, or current Financial Controller that can lead a team, improve process and efficiency, whilst adding further value to the business. Other key responsibilities will include and not be limited to;

• Production of the monthly management accounts both UK and overseas.
• Production of annual accounts and oversee annual year end stock takes.
• Completion of tender questionnaires re financials.
• Quarterly VAT returns across the Group.
• Complete all HMRC requirements and reporting
• Monthly payroll reconciliation.
• Monthly supplier payment runs.
• Additional ad hoc reporting.
• Management and training of a small accounting team (up to 8) with some being split between different operating locations.
• Stakeholder management amongst operations and finance including senior leadership teams and the board.

What we are targeting:

Ideally this role is targeting either a qualified ACCA/ACMA or qualified by experience individual, who has had previous management exposure. You must be technically strong able to drive not only the production of the accounts but also deliver a high-level review for the board whilst adding value. There will be projects outside of the above supporting future tenders, contract review as well as partnering operations in the day to day delivery and growth of the company.
