Job summary

Aila Recruitment | B Corp™ is partnering with a leading FMCG business to appoint a Financial Controller who will lead a small team and own management accounts, P&L, and year-end processes.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the role focuses on robust control, process improvements, and effective collaboration with auditors and the commercial team. Hybrid working is offered with 25 days holiday and a 10% bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 5 years’ experience in similar positions.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
• Proven ability to use data to drive business performance.
• Experience leading and mentoring a team to high performance.
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, provisions).
• Manage working capital and multi-currency cash flow planning and deposits.
• Oversee VAT returns, corporation tax payments, and HMRC processes.
• Produce board packs and management accounts with commentary and analysis.
• Drive continual process improvements across finance platforms.
• Prepare budgets and re-forecasts; maintain bespoke platforms.
• Collaborate with Commercial Finance on GP reviews and customer accounts.
• Liaise with external auditors and coordinate statutory accounts.

Are you a technically strong Financial Controller with the comfort and ability to lead a small team in a hands on and varied environment? We’re exclusively partnered with a leading FMCG business as we recruit a senior leader as Financial Controller into this permanent role.

The role:

Reporting to the Finance Director, this role is pivotal to the organisation and takes complete control of the management accounts, P&L’s, reporting and process improvements within finance, whilst also being the main point of contact at year end for the Auditors.

We’re looking for a qualified, experienced and motivated Accountant who is comfortable with their technical knowledge and who will lead and motivate a team to drive process improvements across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead month end and year end close processes – accruals, prepayments, depreciation, provisions
• Working capital management to include the multi-currency cash flow alongside planning and cash deposits
• Complete VAT Returns, corporation tax payments, duty deferment reconciliations and HMRC processes
• Produce board packs and management accounts for the Directors and Shareholders with commentary and top line analysis (GP, Stock, Cashflow)
• Drive continual improvement through regular review of process and development of existing and new platforms
• Prepare budgets and re-forecasts and maintain and develop the bespoke platforms used
• Working closely with the Commercial Finance team, a rolling GP Review including review of customer account plans and necessary GP adjustment
• Liaise with external auditors and lead the annual audit to produce statutory accounts and coordinate information requests
• Manage, mentor, motivate and appraise a team of six staff
• Oversee the management of AP, AR and Accounts Marketing

The Ideal Candidate:

• Ideally fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 5 years’ experience within similar positions
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
• Understanding of how data can be used to drive business performance
• Proven record of managing staff members to high levels of individual performance
• Ability to build relationships internally with stakeholders of varying levels
