Job summary

Campbell Brown Associates is supporting a fast-growing SaaS business by recruiting a Financial Controller for a fully remote, 12-month contract. You will own the end-to-end finance function including ops finance, month-end, and a robust control framework, partnering with founders and senior stakeholders across the business.

Job description

We're partnering with a thriving and rapidly scaling, investor backed SaaS business in their search for a Financial Controller.

Working closely with founders, you will own the end-to-end finance function including finops, month-end and reporting, and the control framework that underpins a scaling software business. You’ll be a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, and the ideal candidate will be a hands-on finance leader with prior scale-up experience ready to make an immediate impact.

This is a fully remote 12 month-contract

• Financial Reporting & Month-End: Own the month-end close and deliver accurate, timely management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and clear commentary for senior stakeholders and the board.
• Revenue Recognition & SaaS Metrics: Oversee revenue recognition under IFRS 15, including subscription billing, deferred revenue and contract reviews, and support reporting on key SaaS metrics such as ARR, MRR, churn and net revenue retention.
• Statutory Reporting & Audit: Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts under UK GAAP/IFRS and manage the relationship with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient year-end audit.
• Control Environment: Maintain a robust and fit-for-purpose financial control framework, identifying weaknesses and implementing practical improvements that scale with the business.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the annual budget and regular forecasting cycles, working closely with budget holders to provide insight into performance and drivers.
• Cash Flow & Treasury: Monitor cash flow, working capital and multi-currency exposure, producing forecasts and highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Capitalised Development Costs: Manage the treatment and review of capitalised development costs in line with accounting standards.
• Financial Operations: owning low volume transactional finance, reviewing processes and implementing automations and AI agents
• Business Partnering: Act as a trusted adviser to product, sales and leadership colleagues, translating financial information into clear, actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders.
• Systems & Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement through automation, technology and better processes, supporting finance system and ERP developments.
• Handover & Continuity: Ensure a smooth handover at the start and end of the cover period, maintaining continuity for the team and stakeholders throughout

Financial Controller – Required Experience

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior, hands-on finance role
• Prior experience with a SaaS business
• Prior experience with VC or PE backed businesses
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and/or IFRS, with specific experience of subscription revenue recognition (IFRS 15)
• As equally happy being hands on with financial operations, as well as higher level strategy and reporting
• Solid understanding of internal controls and financial governance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly to a non-financial audience
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment, and able to hit the ground running in a short-term cover role
