Job summary

Axon Moore Group Ltd partners with a growing FMCG business to appoint a Financial Controller in Tameside. This is a full-time permanent role with a hands-on finance remit.

You will own financial accounting, month-end, management reporting, cash flow and treasury, FX and VAT, acting as a senior business partner and helping shape strategic decisions as the business scales across Europe.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
• Experience in stock-based business (retail/manufacturing/FMCG) is advantageous.
• Experience managing cash flow and working capital required.
• Strong business partnering and strategic/operational finance skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted finance partner to the leadership team.
• Translate financial information into clear commercial insight and actionable recommendations.
• Build relationships across the business and position finance as a value-adding partner.
• Lead the financial accounting function and maintain robust controls.
• Own the month-end close process and timely reporting.
• Lead production of management accounts and senior stakeholder reporting.
• Lead cash-flow forecasting and liquidity visibility.
• Manage treasury activities and optimise cash use.
• Oversee foreign exchange exposure as the business expands.

Financial Controller Tameside (3 days in office with flex start/finish times) £75,000 - £85,000 FMCG

Axon Moore have partnered with a growing, product-led consumer business who are looking to appoint an ambitious Financial Controller to their team on a full time permanent basis.

The business has ambitious international growth plans, with overseas turnover expected to double as they enter new territories across Europe. This is a hands-on senior finance role with genuine potential to become future FD.

Reporting into the senior finance team, you will take ownership of financial accounting, month-end, management reporting, cash flow, treasury, FX and compliance, while acting as a key business partner to the wider organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted finance partner to the wider leadership team.
• Translate financial information into clear commercial insight and actionable recommendations.
• Build strong relationships across the business and ensure finance is viewed as a value-adding partner rather than simply a reporting function.
• Lead the financial accounting function and ensure robust financial controls are maintained across the business
• Own the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
• Lead the production of management accounts and financial reporting for senior stakeholders
• Lead cash-flow forecasting and provide clear visibility of short and medium-term liquidity
• Manage treasury activities and optimise the use of available cash
• Manage and mitigate foreign exchange exposure as the business continues to expand internationally
• Oversee VAT compliance and ensure all relevant filings and obligations are completed accurately and on time
• Support strategic decision-making as the business expands across European markets.

Ideal candidate:

• Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
• Prior experience in a stock based business (Retail, Manufacturing, FMCG) is highly advantageous
• Experience managing cash flow and working capital is a must
• Ability to operate at both strategic and detailed levels, has strong business partnering skills and has ambitions to take the next step towards Finance Director.
