Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Fully Qualified Accountant to lead the finance function as Financial Controller in Leicester. The role is permanent, Monday to Friday, with hybrid work (2-3 days WFH after establishment).

You will manage a small finance team, oversee costing, inventory valuation, WIP and IFRS accounting, and partner with production and procurement to enhance financial performance.

Qualifications

• Qualified CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent with UK recognition.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering or complex project-based environments.
• Strong cost accounting and inventory accounting expertise.
• Knowledge of IFRS inventory accounting and ERP usage.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of the finance function and manage a small finance team.
• Ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation and WIP control.
• Oversee WIP across production stages, investigate variances and improve controls.
• Collaborate with production, operations, procurement and supply chain to improve financial performance.
• Support month-end, budgeting, forecasting and cost modelling.

If so, a growing manufacturing business based in Leicester is actively seeking a Financial Controller to take responsibility for the delivery of the finance function!

Financial Controller

Job Responsibilities:

• Taking responsibility for the delivery of the finance function and managing a small finance team
• Ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, financial reporting and effective control of WIP
• Managing WIP accounting across multiple production stages, investigating variances and improving financial controls
• Working closely with production, operations, procurement and supply chain teams to improve financial performance and reporting
• Supporting month-end, budgeting, forecasting, cost modelling and continuous improvement across the finance function

Financial Controller

Essential Skills:

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent (CIMA preferred)
• Strong experience within a manufacturing, engineering or complex project-based environment, with a strong understanding of production and procurement processes
• Proven experience managing significant WIP balances, with strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory accounting
• Knowledge of IFRS inventory accounting and experience using ERP systems
