Job summary

Distinct | B Corp, based in the UK, is seeking a Financial Controller for its hybrid Nottingham operation. The role builds on a strong order book and a well-run finance function within a global engineering group, offering stability and growth potential.

The successful candidate will lead financial control, drive improvements in systems and reporting, and manage a team while partnering with senior leadership. ACA/ACCA qualified professionals with audit and reporting experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in statutory reporting, external audit, financial controls and balance sheet integrity.
• Experience in larger, complex or group environments including consolidations and group reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial control, governance and compliance across the business.
• Own month end, year end, group reporting and the external audit relationship.
• Maintain integrity of the balance sheet and wider control environment.
• Lead and develop the finance team, including two direct reports.
• Work with senior finance and operational leadership.
• Drive improvements across systems, automation and reporting.

Financial Controller | £85,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus | Nottingham | Hybrid

Are you looking for the security of a financially strong, long-term business, without stepping into somewhere that feels slow or overly corporate?

This is a genuinely well-run finance function inside a large, global engineering group. It's in an excellent position, financially secure with a strong order book, but it's also growing at pace and could nearly double in size over the next couple of years.

It's also a business built around long-term investment, with a genuine role to play in a more sustainable future. If that side of things matters to you as much as the numbers, it's worth a closer look.

So they're not after someone to simply keep the seat warm.

They want a Financial Controller who can protect the discipline, controls and consistency that's already there, while bringing energy, fresh thinking and a genuine appetite to improve systems, reporting and the way the team works.

You'll be joining an experienced, down-to-earth finance team. Despite being part of a much bigger group, there's nothing corporate about how it feels day to day. Senior people get stuck in, ideas are welcomed, and there are no ivory towers here.

This is also not a long hours culture, whatsoever. Hours are genuinely consistent, even at month end and year end.

What they're looking for

• ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally with a background in audit or financial reporting
• Significant experience across statutory reporting, external audit, financial controls and balance sheet integrity
• Experience within a larger, complex or group environment, including consolidations and group reporting
• A technically-minded Financial Controller equally comfortable driving systems, process and automation improvements
• A track record of accurate reporting, hitting deadlines and maintaining high standards
• A practical, hands-on leadership style, with the confidence to challenge without ego

The role

Package

• £75,000 to £85,000 basic salary
• 7.5% bonus (consistently paid, not a lottery)
• Two days a week, central Nottingham office with parking
