Job summary

ICAEW in London is seeking a Finance Controller to lead a team of two and oversee the general ledger for ten holding companies, ensuring IFRS compliance and robust financial reporting.

You will manage month‑ and year‑end close, coordinate intercompany reconciliations, cash flow forecasts and statutory accounts, while strengthening controls and mentoring staff in a global, hybrid‑work environment.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification.
• 5+ years in a relevant finance role, with at least 1 year in management.
• In-house controlling experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent Excel skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Oversee 10 holding companies' general ledger accounts, ensuring IFRS compliance and alignment with Group policies.
• Lead a team of 2 finance professionals, providing training, support and mentorship.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes with timely, accurate reporting.
• Coordinate intercompany reconciliations and intercompany recharges with global group entities.
• Oversee preparation of periodic cash flow forecasts.
• Prepare statutory accounts for central entities; liaise with external consultants; final reviews of accounts.
• Maintain and improve internal controls for financial reporting to mitigate risks.
• Ad hoc projects as required.

Your new company

I am currently partnering with a company in an exciting expansion phase, growing its presence as an international media and events business. The company is already operating on an international scale, and the headquarters are located in Central London.

Your new role

As Finance Controller, you will be reporting directly to the Head of Finance, and your key responsibilities will include:

• Oversee 10 holding companies' general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and Group policies.
• Lead a team of 2 finance professionals while offering training, support and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional development.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Liaise with other group entities around the world on intercompany reconciliations and recharges.
• Oversee the preparation of periodic cash flow forecasts.
• Manage the preparation of statutory accounts for all central entities, including liaising with external consultants and final reviews of accounts
• Maintain and improve internal controls for financial reporting processes to mitigate risks and enhance financial integrity.
• Ad hoc projects as required.

What you'll need to succeed

• Accounting qualification such as ACA/ACCA.
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant finance role, with at least 1 year of management experience, preferably within an international company.
• In-house controlling experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to dissect complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.
• Strong organisational skills and managing multiple priorities.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
