Job summary

Naked Energy Ltd is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations at their Crawley headquarters. The role involves comprehensive financial reporting, budget management, and support for international expansion. Qualifications

  • Previous accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

Location: Our HQ and lab are in Crawley and we encourage everyone to be in an office for 40% of their working hours, but provide flexibility with this dependent on personal circumstances and geographical location. Purpose of role:

The Financial Controller will cover a wide range of areas within finance, with overall responsibility for all day-to-day financial operations & reporting. This includes general accounting, payables, receivables, budgeting, forecasting and providing analysis on KPI metrics and performance to aid with commercial decision making.

You will ensure the continued delivery of timely, high quality financial information and will be a strong communicator with a dependable, committed and adaptable approach.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Preparing annual budgets and longer-term business plans to support any future fund-raising rounds.
  • Supporting international expansion strategy (with emphasis on ensuring compliance with local regulations around product compliance and customs / VAT).
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and liaising with external accountants to ensure all transactions processed correctly and that income statement and balance sheet agree to in house results - ensuring all balance sheet accounts fully reconciled and checking quarterly VAT returns (including online filing of Netherlands quarterly VAT return).
  • Managing cashflow forecast and all banking transactions (including rudimentary treasury for EUR/USD/GBP accounts).
  • Preparing quarterly updates to shareholders / board of directors.
  • Maintaining and updating share capital table and records of share options.
  • Preparing annual statutory accounts with external accountants / annual tax return / computation also with external accountants.
  • Providing support for international shipping to ensure smooth processing for customs purposes.
  • Managing all aspects of stock accounting - from purchase to transformation of components to WIP / finished goods - allocation and tracking of key components and finished goods by serial number - allocation of COGS to individual sales orders / invoices to track project profitability - monitoring stock levels / locations to ensure stock is available to the sales team
  • Initiating and checking/paying payroll (outsourced processing).

Qualifications & Experience

  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA Qualified
  • Previous Experience in an SME environment
  • Experienced with preparing monthly management accounts, statutory accounts annual budgets
  • Timeliness, accuracy and quality of reporting and insights
  • Accuracy and tidiness of the ledgers and reconciliations
  • Strong ability to present financial information and analysis in a succinct and clear manner, appropriate for the audience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Previous experience of manufacturing & assembly processes and accounting for these
  • Working with businesses with an international network
  • Knowledge of import / export procedures, shipping and customs
