Job summary

Pear Talent is recruiting a Syndicate Financial Controller for an international insurer based in City of London with hybrid working (1–2 days WFH). You will own end-to-end financial reporting for a Lloyd's syndicate, lead statutory statements, US GAAP, and regulatory reporting while shaping the control framework and governance.

Qualifications

• City of London | WFH 1–2 days p/wk

Pear Talent is representing an international insurer seeking a Syndicate Financial Controller.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing finance team at an exciting stage of growth, taking ownership of the full financial reporting and control framework for the syndicate whilst helping shape processes, controls and governance from the ground up.

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you'll work closely with senior finance leadership, underwriting, actuarial, auditors and the Lloyd's Managing Agent, gaining broad exposure across both operational and strategic finance.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end financial reporting for a Lloyd's syndicate
• Lead statutory financial statements and US GAAP reporting
• Deliver Lloyd's, regulatory and Corporate Member reporting
• Develop, enhance and maintain a robust financial control framework, including SOX controls
• Analyse financial performance and provide insightful commentary for senior management and the Audit Committee
• Partner with underwriting, actuarial, tax, risk and wider finance teams
• Manage relationships with auditors, regulators and outsourced service providers
• Support finance transformation, systems improvements and process automation
• Drive continuous improvement across reporting processes and governance
• Help establish scalable finance processes supporting future business growth
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Significant experience within the Lloyd's Insurance Market
• Strong Syndicate Financial Reporting experience
• Deep understanding of Lloyd's regulatory reporting and syndicate accounting
• Experience producing statutory financial statements
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP (or significant exposure alongside UK GAAP/IFRS)
• Proven financial controls and governance experience
• Strong stakeholder management skills across Finance and the wider business
• Experience working with external auditors and regulatory bodies
