This is a hands‑on and varied Financial Controller role, ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with operational teams in an engineering environment. You will take ownership of financial reporting, control, and analysis, while acting as a key link between finance and the wider business. The role offers visibility and influence, supporting both day‑to‑day performance and longer‑term planning.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Take ownership of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely delivery.
- Lead the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, KPI reporting and insightful financial commentary.
- Manage and maintain financial controls across the business, ensuring robustness and compliance.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with operational teams to deliver accurate financial plans.
- Provide detailed financial analysis to support manufacturing, commercial and supply chain decision‑making.
- Analyse production costs, overheads, labour and stock movements to support margin improvement initiatives.
- Act as a key finance business partner, building effective relationships with operational and commercial stakeholders.
- Manage cash flow monitoring, forecasting and reporting activities.
- Support year‑end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors, ensuring a smooth audit process.
- Lead process improvement initiatives across reporting, controls and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the ongoing development of finance systems and data quality, ensuring the integrity of financial information.
- Provide ad‑hoc financial insight and analysis to support strategic and operational decision‑making.
Person Specification
- Qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA or equivalent).
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or product‑led environment highly desirable.
- Well‑developed management accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Good understanding of costing, stock and production finance.
- Confident user of Excel and ERP/finance systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence non‑finance stakeholders.
- Proactive, hands‑on approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
