Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Manage VAT returns, PAYE/NI processes, and related statutory reporting.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external audits.

  • Mentor and develop a finance team.
  • Partner with stakeholders to provide financial insight.
  • Maintain and enhance Sage Intacct controls and reporting.
  • Support international entities and review intl management accounts.

Overview

The Role

We are recruiting a Financial Control Manager to lead the day-to-day financial control function for a rapidly growing professional services business operating in a regulated environment. This role will manage and develop a team of four and will be responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, accurate and timely reporting, and strong compliance across the business.

You will lead the month-end close, oversee VAT and payroll controls, act as the key point of contact for external auditors, and drive continuous improvement across financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
  • Own balance sheet controls and reconciliations across all entities
  • Manage VAT returns, PAYE/NI processes, and related statutory reporting
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external audits
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide financial insight and guidance
  • Maintain and enhance financial systems (Sage Intacct), controls, and reporting
  • Support international entities and review international management accounts
  • Lead and contribute to finance projects focused on improving controls, efficiency, and compliance
About You
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in financial and management accounting
  • Proven experience managing month-end and external audits
  • Confident people manager with experience developing teams
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using Sage or similar ERP systems
  • Detail-oriented with a ‘right first time’ mindset
