Job summary

Abcam, a Danaher operating company, is seeking a Finance Business Partner for Operations to lead P&L and capex forecasting and deliver gross margin insights. You will partner with Operations, Commercial, and Finance leaders to drive strategic financial decisions and ensure SOX controls are in place.

Located in Cambridge on-site, this role supports the FP&A team and reports to the Finance Director, Operations, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and the broader Danaher system of

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with experience in a similar role.
• Strong Excel and advanced financial modelling skills.
• Proven experience in financial analysis and forecasting.
• Knowledge of financial principles and accounting standards.
• Experience with financial planning systems and tools.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Operations P&L and capex forecasting process, and Gross Margin forecasting.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis including capital investment appraisals and variance analysis.
• Partner with key business leaders across Operations, Commercial and Finance.
• Ensure SOX compliant controls for revenue and cost recognition.
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
• Support Abcam Operations function and Gross Margin reporting with full P&L and Capex responsibilities.

• Planning and Budgeting: Drive the Operations P&L and capex forecasting process, and Gross Margin forecasting including detailed modelling, accuracy and alignment with business goals.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including capital investment appraisals, variance and trend analysis, and forecasting.
• Business Partnering: Build strong relationships with key business leaders across Operations, Commercial and Finance to understand their strategic objectives and provide financial expertise.
• Financial Controls: Ensure appropriate SOX compliant controls in place for both revenue and cost recognition
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
• Qualified accountant
• Proven experience in a similar role.
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills (i.e. Excel).
• Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.
• Proficiency in financial planning systems and tools.
• It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Experience with Oracle
  • Experience with Tableau/Power BI

This position reports to the Finance Director, Operations, and is part of the Financial Planning and Analysis Team located in Cambridge and will be on site.
