Base pay range

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Financial Accountant to join a well-established hospitality business based in Warrington. With recent investment secured and a strengthened senior leadership team in place, the business is entering a new phase of growth and long-term stability. You'll be joining a collaborative finance team where your input will be genuinely valued, working closely with both the Financial Controller and CFO to support day-to-day financial operations. This role offers broad exposure - well beyond just audit and tax - along with regular interaction with senior stakeholders. It's a great fit for someone looking to develop their career in a fast-moving, people-focused environment, with real progression potential. The position is office-based three days a week, giving you the balance of flexibility and strong team connection.

It's a particularly strong opportunity for newly qualified ACA accountants ready to make their first move into industry. You'll build on your technical foundations while gaining hands-on experience in areas like reporting, forecasting, and process improvement - plus direct exposure to senior decision-makers. If you're after a role with real variety and clear development, this one stands out.

What you'll do:

As Financial Accountant, you'll take on a broad range of responsibilities that are key to the smooth running of this fast-paced and growing hospitality business. From managing statutory processes - including audits, statutory accounts, VAT returns, and tax schedules - to contributing to monthly management reporting cycles, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting, this role offers real variety. You'll work closely with both the Financial Controller and CFO, gaining valuable exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to help shape financial systems and processes as the business evolves. Strong communication skills will be important, particularly when translating financial detail into clear, commercial insight across teams. Whether you're making your first move from practice or looking to deepen your impact in an operational finance role, this is a great opportunity to develop and grow in a dynamic environment.

  • Take ownership of leading the annual audit process for the Group, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors and ensuring all requirements are met efficiently.
  • Prepare consolidated statutory accounts for the Group and its subsidiaries, including compiling comprehensive supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Produce detailed tax schedules and liaise directly with external tax advisors to support timely and accurate tax submissions.
  • Assist in the monthly preparation of management accounts by gathering data, analysing results, and contributing insights to support business decisions.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations with precision, identifying discrepancies and implementing solutions where necessary.
  • Manage daily and weekly cash flow reporting and forecasting activities to provide clear visibility over financial resources across the business.
  • Maintain statutory records for the Group, ensuring Companies House filings are accurate and submitted on time in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns meticulously, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and deadlines.
  • Support the Financial Controller in reviewing financial processes, systems, and controls to drive continuous improvement across all areas of finance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to explain financial information clearly to non-financial personnel, fostering understanding and informed decision-making.

What you bring:

To do well in this Financial Accountant role, you'll need a solid technical grounding- ideally ACA qualified - with experience in audit or statutory accounting. You'll be detail-focused, someone who's comfortable getting into the numbers and making sure everything adds up, from statutory accounts through to cash flow reporting.

Advanced Excel skills will definitely come in handy, and it's the kind of role where you'll be trusted to work independently but also expected to work closely with different teams across the business. Being able to explain the numbers clearly to people outside of finance is important too.

  • ACA qualified accountant with demonstrable experience gained within practice or industry environments focused on audit or statutory accounting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with high levels of accuracy when preparing financial statements or reconciling accounts.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent organisational skills enabling you to manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills that allow you to explain complex financial concepts simply to non-financial colleagues.
  • Affinity or prior experience within hospitality or leisure sectors would be advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for these industries is welcomed.

What sets this company apart:

This is a well-established business within the hospitality sector, with a growing national presence and strong backing to support its next phase of expansion. Recent changes in leadership and renewed investment have brought a sharper strategic focus and significant enhancements across systems, infrastructure, and team development. The culture is inclusive and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on open communication, professional growth, and mutual respect. For those seeking long-term progression within a stable yet forward-thinking organisation, this represents an excellent opportunity.
