Trial Balance is seeking a Financial Accountant in Truro, offering hybrid working and a salary up to £45,000. This role leads day-to-day finance activity, supports month-end, and drives process improvements within a fast-growing hospitality group.

You will work on VAT/CIS compliance, audits, payroll data, and system automation projects, shaping the finance function as the group scales in Cornwall.

Qualifications

• Practice experience is essential - ideally with audit exposure and a solid understanding of professional accounting standards.
• Studying toward ACCA/CIMA or another recognised accounting qualification.
• Confident working with accounts, financial controls and compliance processes.
• Proactive, curious and ready to grow with a fast-moving finance function.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day finance activity, ensuring key accounting entries and controls are maintained to a high standard.
• Support month-end routines and contribute to a fast, accurate close.
• Improve finance processes, tighten controls and strengthen financial insight.
• Handle core compliance activity, including VAT/CIS and ensure a strong accounting framework is maintained.
• Assist audits by preparing information and supporting reviews.
• Support payroll accuracy and ensure reliable data flows into the accounts.
• Participate in systems and automation projects to scale the finance function.
