Job summary

Aston Martin Formula One Team, based at Silverstone, is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join the Finance team. You will manage balance sheet reconciliations, lease accounting under IFRS 16, and month-end close, while supporting external audits and ensuring robust financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or CCAB qualification.
• Experience with balance sheets, month-end close, and IFRS 16.
• Knowledge of FRS 102 accounting standards.
• Auditing experience and ability to prepare schedules and analyses.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations across entities with monthly deadlines.
• Own end-to-end lease accounting under IFRS 16, including asset registers and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review month-end accruals and prepayments in line with policy.
• Assist external auditors by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Support efficient month-end and year-end close processes and identify process improvements.
• Provide analysis and commentary on significant balance sheet movements.

This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting and supporting our commitment to operational excellence. You’ll play a key role in balance sheet reconciliations, lease accounting, month-end close processes, and external audit activities while contributing to a high-performance finance environment.### Key Responsibilities* Prepare, review, and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations across all entities, ensuring timely completion within monthly reporting deadlines.* Investigate and resolve reconciling items, aged balances, and unexplained variances while maintaining comprehensive audit trails.* Own end-to-end lease accounting under IFRS 16, including identification of new leases, maintenance of asset registers, and preparation of related reconciliations.* Prepare and review month-end accrual and prepayment journals, ensuring compliance with FRS 102 and company policies.* Support efficient month-end and year-end close processes, including journal preparation and account reconciliation.* Monitor financial processes to identify risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for continuous improvement.* Assist external auditors by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.* Review operating expenditure to identify potential leases requiring capitalisation under IFRS 16.* Provide analysis and commentary on significant balance sheet movements as part of monthly financial reporting.* Implement audit recommendations and enhance financial controls to improve reporting quality.### Skills, Knowledge and Expertise* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent CCAB qualification).* Strong technical accounting knowledge with ability to apply FRS 102 and IFRS 16 in complex scenarios.* Proven experience in balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and month-end activities.* Excellent analytical skills to interpret financial data, challenge assumptions, and resolve discrepancies.* High attention to detail with commitment to delivering accurate, audit-ready work.* Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.* Proactive mindset focused on process improvement and control enhancement.* Strong communication skills to collaborate with auditors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.BenefitsInvesting in your career is paramount.
